Assessment of Ecological Status and Tree Diversity in Watershed Area of Dandi Local Government Area in Kebbi State, Nigeria

This study assessed the ecological and tree diversity status of watershed area Dandi local government in Kebbi state using systematic sampling technique. Three transects 300 m long were laid at 100 intervals. On each transect, six sample plots size 50 x (0.25ha) alternately A total 18 will be used for study. Diameters breast height (Dbh) all trees found plot with Dbh ≥ 5cm measured. Fourteen species belonging to 10 genera 8 families identified. Borassus aethiopum family Arecaceae was most abundant a relative density (RD) index (DI) 0.296 0.08728 respectively. followed by Cocos nucifera also, RD DI 0.192 0.03662 Daniella oliveri Fabaceae least represented 0.0018 0.00002 The overall richness 0.0052.
